This sublime coastal town is equidistant from both Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Because of its positioning, it makes for the perfect stop-over on any Garden Route itinerary. It’s not hard to see why when looking out on the town’s two beautiful beaches. Mossel Bay [MZY] is famous for its tranquil coastline and warm Indian Ocean waters. When visitors are not enjoying the town’s sandy beaches, they can step back in time, courtesy of Mossel Bay’s many archaeological excavations and the Dias Museum Complex. Mossel Bay also offers a plethora of accommodation options for its guests.
The month of February sees Mossel Bay play host to the annual Dias Festival. The festival is a celebration of different cultures as well as a commemoration of Bartolomeu Dias’s landing in 1488. Visitors to the festival can enjoy live entertainment, cultural exhibitions, plenty of food stalls and of course, a warm summer climate.
