Oudtshoorn has grown from strength to strength to become the ostrich capital of the world. When not enjoying ostrich interactions and tours at one of the town’s many ostrich farms, guests can also explore the nearby Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch. The Karoo is a desert beauty just waiting to be discovered by new eyes, and Oudtshoorn calls this its home. There are plenty of picturesque accommodations throughout Oudtshoorn as well as a number of restaurants where one can enjoy true Karoo hospitality.
Oudtshoorn also plays host to the annual Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) – an Afrikaans-language arts festival which takes place at the end of March. The festival attracts over 1000 artists and performers who showcase their work throughout the town over a period of 8 days. From art exhibitions to live music and stage productions, the KKNK is an enjoyable outing for both locals and visitors.
