Tulbagh is a small historic town nestled in the Western Cape, along the wine route. The town is filled with some of the oldest buildings in the country and you will find that natural beauty and adventure lies on its doorstep. Visitors can enjoy the rich culture and heritage of the town, and of course, the delectable cuisine and friendliness from the locals that come with it. The town’s picturesque outskirts also hold countless reasons to go exploring. Wine tasting, hiking, game reserves and adrenaline activities await all who choose this holiday destination.
Many annual events can be found here throughout the year. The month of June sees the town being transformed into a winter wonderland to celebrate a wintery early Christmas , since South Africa celebrates Christmas in summer, and September brings with it the Spring Arts Festival. This extends into October when the Tulbagh Horse and Wild Flower Spring Show takes place. Visitors can enjoy the Drostdy Hof Christmas Market and the Gydosig Christmas Lights Festival in November, and those with a sweet tooth can enjoy the Cherry Festival in December.
